The 1860 census stated that he was born in France. Miles served in the Civil War in Company E, 120th Indiana Volunteers. Miles died May 25, 1881 in Newburgh, Warrick County, Indiana and was buried in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Warrick County, Indiana. Had 4 children.
