Today I sourced the census records of the Austin P. Hatch family in the 1870 of Kane Co., IL. Austin was a druggist living in Aurora. Also in the household were his parents, Jethro and Minerva (Pierce) Hatch. The value of Jethro's real estate was listed at $154,000 in 1870.

My paternal great great grandfather is Jethro Ayers Hatch - the congressman brother of Austin. I have recently found your blog and have found all the information re the Pierce/Field lines invaluable. I now live in England and am visiting places that come up in my research. I wonder if you have got anywhere with the Hatch lines. I can follow the Hatch line back to the 16th c. but have become completely stuck at Ruth Wells b. Aug 1759 who married Timothy Hatch b. 12 DEC 1757 on that branch.
