Today in my database : Johann Jacob Deutsch (b. December 11, 1821)

Today's featured relative in my database is my daughter's 4th-great grandfather, Johann Jacob Deutsch.

Johann was born December 11, 1821 in Klein Engersen, Saxony and married before 1848 to Doris Elisabeth Schutte. Doris was was born in 1827 in Klein Engersen and died June 10, 1903 in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co., IN. Johann died in September 30, 1863.

Johann and family emigrated to the United States about July 1854 to New Orleans, LA. During the Civil War, he first enlisted [conscripted?] into the Confederate army, and then on June 24, 1862 enlisted in Co. D, 13th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry in the Union army.

Doris remarried as her second husband to John M. Doelitsch between 1863-1866. John was born circa 1824 in Saxony and died after 1870 census.

Known children of Johann Jacob and Doris Elisabeth (Schutte) Deutsch are as follows:

iii. Emilie Deutsch b. 1853 Germany, d. August 18, 1896 Louisville, KY, m. Johannes Heinrich Wild.
iv. Rosa Deutsch b. March 2, 1862 Louisiana, d. April 30, 1883 Evansville, IN.

My daughter descends from Johann and Doris through their daughter, Caroline, as follows :

Emilie Deutsch and Johannes Heinrich Wild
Arthur Wildt and Anna Magdalena Damm
Edward Ferdinand Wildt and Miriam Ruth Miguet (her great-grandparents)
