1748 - Sarah WINSTON born.  Sarah was the daughter of Anthony WINSTON and Alice TAYLOR.


1778 - Ann DAVIS born.  Ann was the daughter of Nathan DAVIS and Ann GIFFORD.


1751 - Martha ROGERS born.  Martha was the daughter of Nathan ROGERS and Martha DAVIS.


1815 - Samuel SLADE married Lydia JENNINGS in Clermont County, Ohio.  Samuel was the son of Ezekiel SLADE and Mary HODGKINS.


1838 - Barbara ALGEO died.  Barbara was the daughter of Vincentius ANTONIDES and Antje BENNUM.


1839 - Japeth B. DEACON died in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Japeth was the son of Joseph DEACON and Beulah HAINES.


1850 - Austin DAVIS married Fanny REYNOLDS in Monroe County, Indiana.  Austin was the son of John DAVIS and Susannah ________.  Fanny was the daughter of Jesse REYNOLDS and Mary PUTMAN.  They were my 4x great-grandparents.


1850 - William Walter COOK born in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio.  William was the son of George COOK and Matilda JACOBS.


1858 - Sarah Ann HENDRIXSON died in Brown County, Ohio.  Sarah was the daughter of George WRIGHT and Elizabeth ROBBINS.


1865 - Edward Clarkson BALES born in LaGrande, Iowa.  Edward was the son of Nathan Williams BALES and Minerva Jane UNDERHILL.


1870 - Amos SUTTON died in Clarke County, Ohio.  Amos was the son of Cornelius SUTTON and Elizabeth APPLEGATE.


1873 - Rachel Brown LEE married Peter Horry HINDS.  Rachel was the daughter of Burrell Russell LEE Jr. and Elizabeth W. NAIL.


1883 - John William LEE born in Ray County, Missouri.  John was the son of William Burrell LEE and Margaret Jane SWAFFORD.


1885 - Sarah FRANKLIN died.  Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin H. CROCKETT and Elizabeth THOMAS.


1898 - William B. JACOBS died in Brown County, Ohio.  William was the son of James Thomas JACOBS and Isabella FEILY.


1901 - Josiah H. BRITTON married Minnie Nancy FISHER.  Josiah was the son of Josiah Cole BRITTON and Eleanor Creveling EWING.


1904 - Pearl Louise WRIGHT born in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.  Pearl was the daughter of Edward E. WRIGHT and Martha Jane STARR.


1935 - Thomas Jefferson PEFLEY died in Dana, Jackson County, Indiana.  Thomas was the son of Solomon PEFLEY and Elizabeth ROOF.  Thomas was Eileen's 2x great-grandfather.


1975 - Goldie Marie PORTER died in Huntington Park, Los Angeles County, California.  Goldie was the daughter of James Alfred KING and Ella Mae LOWERY.

Obituary of Marvin Dailey

Thanks to Ancestry user rhondohoyes1950, I was able to locate a copy of the obituary for Marvin DAILEY, second husband of Erma (HAYES) WRIGHT.





Marvin Dailey Passes Away on Thursday


Tipton - Harry Marvin Dailey, 75, of 570 Kentucky avenue, Tipton, died Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Jones convescent home in Marion.


He was born May 10, 1892, in Fayette county, the son of Oliver and Margaret Farr Dailey.  He was married in 1922 to Irma Wright, and she died in 1949.  In 1951 he was married to Ressie Anderson.


He was a former tinplate worker and resided in Elwood prior to moving to Tipton.  He was last employed at the Tipton County memorial hospital.


Survivors include the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Harting Jr., of route 2 Elwood and Mrs. Jack French of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three sons, Merrill of Kokomo, Warren of Goshen, and Marvin of Trinity, N.C.; the following step children, Mrs. Harry Browning of Tipton, Mrs. Harold Porter, Kenneth Anderson and Thomas, all of Elwood and Warren Anderson of Indianapolis; 19 grandchildren.


The body is in the Mitchell funeral home in Tipton where friends may call anytime.


Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afteroon, at the Mitchell home. Rev. Chester Mitchell will officiate.  Burial will be made in the Fairview cemetery.


This obituary gives me some good information, including a timeframe for his marriage to Erma (HAYES) WRIGHT of 1922, and his full name and birthplace.

Today's featured relative in my database is my paternal 4th great-grandfather, Phillip Young.

Phillip was born October 11, 1787 in Berkeley Co., VA (now WVA), the son of Charles and Catherine Elizabeth (Kint) Young. Phillip married ca. 1806 to Nancy Ann McLane, daughter of Jacob McLane. Nancy was born ca. 1790 Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., VA (now WVA) and died May 1825. Phillip married secondly on July 30, 1826 in Pickaway Co., OH to Keziah Curtis. Keziah was born April 11, 1808 in Pickaway Co., OH and died February 16, 1891 in Shelby Co., OH. Phillip died May 29, 1850 in Shelby Co., OH.

Phillip was a veteran of the War of 1812 and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
