Marriage Record : George Haley to Rachel H. Gary, 1835, Hardin County, Ohio

While searching at FamilySearch and updating my database, I located the marriage record for my paternal 3rd-great grandparents, George Haley and Rachel H. Gary, which took place on January 1, 1835 in Hardin County, Ohio.

"Ohio, County Marriages, 1789-2013," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XDPX-J7P : 8 December 2014), George Haley and Rachel H. Gary, 01 Jan 1835; citing Hardin, Ohio, United States, reference p 7; county courthouses, Ohio; FHL microfilm 914,842.
George was the son of George and Barbara Haley, Rachel's parentage is unknown at this point.  George was born in Switzerland and came with his parents to Fairfield County, Ohio in 1816.  Rachel was born in Fairfield County in 1816.  George was a minister in the Evangelical Association, and one of his early appointments may have been in Hardin County.

I do hereby certify that on the first day of January AD 1835 by virtue of a license from the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas George Haley and Rachel H Gary were legally joined in marriage by me a Justice of the peace in and for the county of Hardin.  Given under my hand and seal this fifteenth day of January A.D. 1835  - George H. Hauser, J.P.

Interesting to note that Rachel's middle initial "H." was given, perhaps to distinguish her from another Rachel Gary in the area.
