.From my visit to the Jay County Indiana Clerk's office, I was able to obtain this copy of the marriage record of Robert E. KIMBLE to my paternal 2nd-great grandmother, Mary Jane (SHERRICK) HALEY. Their marriage occurred May 8, 1897 in Jay County.
Robert was born in August 1841 in Ohio, of unknown parentage. Mary was born January 13, 1844 in Ashland County, Ohio, the daughter of David and Susan (JACOBS) SHERRICK. Her first husband, George Washington HALEY, had died December 16, 1892.
Interesting notation on the record written in pencil is the phrase "Don't Pub.", which I assume meant not to publish in the local newspaper.
Mary died January 15, 1916 in Jay County and is buried in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. I do not yet know when and where Robert died.
