Surname Saturday : Byers

The BYERS surname is in my paternal line.  The origins of the surname appear to be German.


Stories and history :


Ahnentafel # 87 : Barbara Byers (1798-1874).  Barbara was born January 5, 1798 in Warrington Township, York County, Pennsylvania.  She married David Jacobs (1796-1857) circa 1817 in York County, Pennsylvania.  David was born October 3, 1796 in York County, Pennsylvania.  They were the parents of 10 children, raising them in York County and Wayne County, Ohio.  The family moved to Ohio circa 1835.  David died June 20, 1857 in Wayne County, Ohio.  Barbara died December 4, 1874 in Congress Township, Wayne County, Ohio.  They are buried in the West Salem Cemetery, West Salem, Ohio.


Ahnentafel # 174 : Abraham Byers (1771-1823).  Abraham was born December 31, 1771.  Abraham married Mary Stickel (1768-1842) circa 1795 in York County, Pennsylvania.  Mary was born August 28, 1768 in Warrington Township, York County, Pennsylvania.  They were the parents of at least 9 children.  Mary died September 24, 1842 in Warrington Township, York County, Pennsylvania.  Abraham died January 21, 1823 in Warrington Township, York County, Pennsylvania.


Ahnentafel # 348 : Charles Byers (c1730-1799).  Charles was born circa 1730.  He married Elizabeth ________ (1739-1832) circa 1759.  Elizabeth was born in 1739. They were the parents of at least 11 children.  Elizabeth died March 20, 1832 in Franklin Township, York County, Pennsylvania.  Charles died August 1799 in York County, Pennsylvania.
