My maternal 3rd-great granduncle, George G. LAMBERTSON, was married on this date in 1851 in Butler County, Ohio to Harriett JONES.  George was the son of John and Sarah (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the older brother of my Carey W. LAMBERTSON.  George was born July 5, 1831 in Warren County, New Jersey.  Harriett was born circa 1834 in Ohio.  They had 2 children and resided in Butler County, Ohio and Mason County, Kentucky where George was a Methodist minister.  George's death is unknown.  Harriett died between 1900 and 1910, probably in Butler County, Ohio.


My paternal 5th-great grandaunt, Abigail PHILBRICK, was born on this date in 1737 in Hampton, Province of New Hampshire.  Abigail was the daughter of John and Judith (SANBORN) PHILBRICK, and the older sister of my John PHILBRICK.  Abigail married ________ PARTRIDGE.  Nothing further is known at this time.

My maternal 4th-great grandparents, John LAMBERTSON and Sarah A. WILLSON, were married on this date in 1822 in Belvidere, Sussex County, New Jersey.  The parentage of John is unknown.  Sarah was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (________) WILLSON.  John was born circa 1800 in New Jersey.  Sarah was born circa 1804 in New Jersey.  They raised 10 children in Warren County, New Jersey and Butler County, Ohio.  Sarah died December 21, 1881 in Ohio.  John died October 1875 in Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.  Both are buried in the Farmersville Cemetery, Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.

My paternal 2nd-great granduncle, George W. METZNER, was born on this date in 1847 in Licking County, Ohio.  George was the son of John and Catherine (YOUNG) METZNER, and the younger brother of my John Adam METZNER.  George married Elizabeth ________.  Elizabeth was born in 1849.  They lived in Noble Township, Jay County, Indiana.  Elizabeth died February 19, 1942.  George died May 16, 1875.  Both are buried in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Jay County, Indiana.

My maternal great-grandfather, Virgil Lee WRIGHT, was born on this date in 1894 in Orestes, Madison County, Indiana.  Virgil was the son of John William and Ellen (KING) WRIGHT.  Virgil married June 19, 1915 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana to Edna Muriel PIERCE, daughter of William Francis and Clara (PENISTEN) PIERCE.  Edna was born February 7, 1897 in Madison County, Indiana.  They had 3 children.  Edna died March 3, 1968 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana.  Virgil died March 25, 1972 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.  Both are buried in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.

My paternal 7th-great grandmother, Anna Maria HERBACH, was born on this date in 1705 in Otterberg, Bayern.  Anna was the daughter of Johann Peter and Anna Maria (________) HERBACH.  Anna married Hans Heinrich CHERDRON on April 22, 1727 in Otterberg, Bayern.  Hans was the son of Abraham and Anne Margueritte (VIELLARD) CHERDRON.  They had at least one daughter.  Both died after 1771 in York County, Pennsylvania.  Nothing further is known at this time.

My paternal 4th-great granduncle, Daniel PHILBRICK, was born on this date in 1793.  Daniel was the son of John and Sally (JEWETT) PHILBRICK, and the older brother of my Joel PHILBRICK.  Daniel died November 14, 1842.  Nothing further is known at this time.

My maternal 3rd-great granduncle, George G. LAMBERTSON, was born on  this date in 1831 in Warren County, New Jersey.  George was the son of John and Sarah A. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the older brother of my Carey W. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the older brother of my Carey W. LAMBERTSON.  Eliza's parentage is unknown.  Nelson was born April 4, 1838 in Stillwell Corner, Butler County, New Jersey.  Eliza was born December 1837 in Ohio.  They had 5 children and lived in Darke and Butler County, Ohio.  Eliza died July 6, 1899.  Nelson died October 3, 1929 at the National Military Home, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.

My paternal grandaunt, Bertha Alberta LeMASTER, was born on this date in 1892 in Jay County, Indiana.  Bertha was the daughter of Luman Cooper and Barbara Isabel (WEHRLY) LeMASTERS, and the older sister of my Ord Wehrly LeMASTER. Bertha married June 10, 1911 in Jay County, Indiana to Russell J. HERCULES, son of James Bolton and Martha J. (MULLENUX) HERCULES.  Russell was born January 28, 1890 in Burkettsville, Ohio.  They raised 4 children in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.  Russell died April 30, 1966 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.  Bertha died December 31, 1961 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.

My maternal 2nd-great grandaunt, Catherine E. LEMASTERS, was born on this date in 1840 in Shelby County, Ohio.  Catherine was the daughter of Luman Walker and Nancy (YOUNG) LEMASTERS, and the older sister of my Luman Walker LEMASTERS Jr.  Catherine married February 3, 1861 in Jay County, Indiana to John P. WEHRLY, son of Johannes and Barbara (PETRY) WEHRLY.  John was born 1838 in Preble County, Ohio.  They raised 8 children in Jay County, Indiana.  John died 1910 in Jay County, Indiana.  Catherine died 1911 in Jay County, Indiana.  Both are buried in the Salamonia Cemetery, Jay County, Indiana.

My maternal 3rd-great grandaunt, Ellen W. LAMBERTSON, was born on this date in 1850 in Ohio.  Ellen was the daughter of John and Sarah A. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the younger sister of my Carey W. LAMBERTSON.  Ellen was married in 1865 in Butler Co., Ohio to ________ SOCKEY.  Ellen married secondly on November 10, 1870 in Butler County, Ohio to David L. MENGLE, son of George and Susana (RUMBARGER) MENGLE.  David was born August 7, 1849 in Ohio.  They lived in Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio and raised 4 children.  David died July 4, 1938 in Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio.  Ellen died September 16, 1933 in Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio.  Both are buried in the Holp Cemetery, Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.

My maternal 3rd-great grandaunt, Elizabeth LAMBERTSON, was born on this date in 1823 in Sussex County, New Jersey.  Elizabeth was the daughter of John and Sarah A. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the older sister of my Carey W. LAMBERTSON.  Elizabeth married October 15, 1839 in Butler County, Ohio to Carey Kinkead GILLILAND, son of Adam Baird and Nancy (KINKEAD) GILLILAND.  Carey was born circa 1816 in Red Oak, Brown County, Ohio.  They had 6 children.  Carey died sometime after the 1870 census.  Elizabeth died October 11, 1860 in Ohio.

(WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the older brother of my Carey W. LAMBERTSON.  Hannah's parentage is unknown.  John was born August 17, 1833 in Belvidere, Warren County, New Jersey.  Hannah was born circa 1832 in Indiana.  John was a wagonmaker and Civil War veteran of the 88th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry.  They had 1 daughter.  Hannah died between the 1870 census and 1882, when John remarried.  John died August 30, 1914 in Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.  He is buried in the Farmersville City Cemetery, Montgomery County, Ohio.


My maternal 4th-great grandaunt, Susannah WRIGHT, was born on this date in 1819 in Brown County, Ohio.  Susannah was the daughter of George and Elizabeth (ROBINS) WRIGHT, and the younger sister of my John WRIGHT.  Susannah married October 29, 1840 in Brown County, Ohio to William P. HALL.  She married secondly October 2, 1857 to Sidney OGDEN.  Nothing further is known at this time.


My paternal 5th-great granduncle, William R. HAINES, was born on this date in 1774 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  William was the son of Robert and Rachel (VENICOMB) HAINES, and the younger brother of my Hannah HAINES.  William married October 24, 1822 in Moorestown, Burlington County, New Jersey to Mary B. MULLEN, daughter of Samuel and Sarah (ATKINSON) MULLEN.  Mary was born January 4, 1794 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Mary died February 2, 1862 in Mt. COOK.  Clara was born November 16, 1848 in Ohio, the daughter of William and ________ (HIRHARGER) COOK.  They lived in Cicero, Hamilton County, Indiana and Elwood, Madison County, Indiana and had 5 children.  Clara died January 23, 1943 in Atlanta, Hamilton County, Indiana.  Carey died March 18, 1918 in Elwood, Madison County, Indiana.  Both are buried in the Elwood City Cemetery, Madison County, Indiana.

My maternal 4th-great granduncle, Eli DAVIS, married on this date in 1848 in Monroe County, Indiana to Elizabeth E. My paternal great grandaunt Edith Mabel LeMASTERS, married on this date in 1910 in Jay County, Indiana to Henry MEINHOLTZ.  Edith was the daughter of Luman Walker and Mary Keziah (CHEW) LEMASTERS, and the younger sister of my Luman Cooper LeMASTERSEdith was born September 24, 1879 in Jay County, Indiana.  Henry was born July 9, 1875.  They had 4 children and lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Henry died January 20, 1948.  Edith died July 27, 1949.  

My maternal 3rd-great granduncle, John Vorhees LAMBERTSON, married on this date in 1882 in Farmland, Randolph County, Indiana to Annie E. OLIVER.  John was the son of John and Sarah (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the older brother of my Carey Wilson LAMBERTSON.  Annie was the daughter of William OLIVER.  Annie was born August 1853 in Ohio.  John was born August 17, 1833 in Belvidere, Warren County, New Jersey.  He was a wagonmaker and carpenter, and served in Company D, 88th Regiment Ohio Infantry during the Civil War.  They had 1 son.  Annie died May 1, 1901 in Hamilton, Ohio.  John died August 30, 1914 in Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.

My maternal 3rd-great granduncle, Charles Morton POE, was born on this date in 1866 in Morgan County, Indiana.  Charles was the son of Isaac S. and Hannah (MILLS) POE, and the younger brother of my Elizabeth Caroline POE.  Charles married March 6, 1889 in Norton, Norton County, Kansas to Minnie Elizabeth SHIMEALL, daughter of Clark Floyd and Salina Madelein (NEWCOMB) SHIMEALL.  Minnie was born April 18, 1872 in Hopkinton, Delaware County, Iowa.  They had 1 daughter and later divorced.  Minnie died February 5, 1950 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.  Charles married secondly to Leona M. ________.  Charles lived in Phillips County, Kansas and Lancaster County, Nebraska.  Last record is found in 1920 census of Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska.

My maternal 6th-great grandparents, Anthony RAINS and Nancy GRAHAM, were married on this date in 1787 in Randolph County, North Carolina.  Anthony was born October 13, 1757 in Caroline County, Virginia.  Nancy was born July 10, 1760, the daughter of Richard and Asenath [________] GRAHAM.  They had 9 children.  Anthony was a Revolutionary War veteran.  Anthony died March 25, 1837 in Randolph County, North Carolina.

My maternal 3rd-great granduncle, George Washington KING, was married on this date in 1845 in Madison County, Indiana to Elizabeth HOWARD.  George was born February 6, 1823 in Hamilton County, Ohio, the son of William and Sarah (SULLIVAN) KING.  Elizabeth was born July 18, 1825 in North Carolina.  They lived in Pipe Creek Township, Madison County, Indiana and had 13 children.  Elizabeth died November 15, 1902.  George died August 10, 1892.  Both are buried in the Sigler Cemetery, Frankton, Pipe Creek Township, Madison County, Indiana.

(WILLSON) LAMBERTSON.  He was previously married to Hannah HUDSON and Annie E. OLIVER.  Margaret was born October 25, 1853 in Butler County, Ohio.  John was a veteran of the Civil War, serving as 2nd Lt. of Company F, 131st Ohio Infantry.  John died August 30, 1914 in Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.  Margaret died in 1930.  Both are buried in the municipal cemetery in Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.

My maternal 5th-great grandaunt, Amy BEALS, was married on this date in 1820 in Highland County, Ohio to Joseph THOMPSON.  Amy was born in 1797 4th month, 24th day in Grayson County, Virginia, the daughter of John and Mary (CARTER) BEALS.  I do not have dates of birth or death for Joseph.  They had 6 children.  Amy died in 1892, 12th month, 4th day in Hardin County, Iowa.

My paternal 4th-great grandaunt, Hannah MOULTON, was born on this date in 1783, probably in Rutland County, Vermont.  Hannah was the daughter of John and Avis (HURLBUT) MOULTON, and the older sister of my Selah MOULTON.  Nothing further is known at this time.

My paternal 5th-great granduncle, John George Peter KALTREIDER, was born on this date in 1747.  John was the son of George and Anna Ursula (HOLTZBAUM) KALTREIDER, and the younger brother of my Duvald KALTREIDER.  Nothing further is known at this time.

ANDREWS.  Orilla was the daughter of William P. and Olive Jane (SMITH) WEHRLY, and the younger sister of my Barbara Isabel WEHRLY.  Orilla was born April 6, 1872 in Salamonia, Jay County, Indiana.  I do not know the birth and death dates of Arthur.  Orilla died December 26, 1970.  Nothing further is known at this time.

My matneral 2nd-great granduncle, Edward E. WRIGHT, was married on this datein 1899 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana to Martha Jane STARR.  Edward was the son of Joseph W. and Rebecca (HEATON) WRIGHT, and the younger brother of my John William WRIGHT.  Edward was born April 18, 1875 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.  Martha was born May 24, 1878 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana, the daughter of Mark and Mary (CHITWOOD) STARR.  They had 3 children.  Martha died March 29, 1948 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.  Edward died June 7, 1960 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.

My maternal 2nd-great granduncle, Elias A. PIERCE, was married on this date in 1895 in Madison County, Indiana to Flora J. CURTIS.  Elias was the son of Edmund G. and Catherine (GROENENDYKE) PIERCE, and the younger brother of my William Francis PIERCE.  Elias was born February 14, 1867 in Madison County, Indiana.  Flora was born November 1871 in Indiana.  Flora died between 1920 and 1930.  Elias died March 1963.

My paternal 6th-great grandparents (and 7th-great!), Samuel WOOLSTON and Cyllania WOOLSTON, were married on this date in 1749 at St. Mary's Church, Mt. Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Samuel was the son of Samuel and Susanna (BUDD) WOOLSTON.  CYllania was the daughter of John and Sarah (POWELL) WOOLSTON.  They were 1st cousins.  Samuel was born April 18, 1719 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Cyllania was born December 13, 1728.  They had 5 children.  Samuel died August 4, 1773.  Cyllania died December 30, 1772 in Burlington County, New Jersey.

My maternal 3rd-great grandaunt, Mary S. LAMBERTSON, was born on this date in 1840 in Franklin County, Indiana.  Mary was the daughter of John and Sarah A. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the older sister of my Carey W. LAMBERTSON.  Mary married November 28, 1863 in Butler County, Ohio to Samuel SNIVELY.  They lived in Butler County, Ohio and Madison County, Indiana.  I do not have the death dates of either Mary or Samuel.  Nothing further known at this time.

My paternal great-granduncle, Blaine Pearl WEHRLY, married on this date in 1909 to Ermina Gladys ASHCRAFT in Jay County, Indiana.  Blaine was the son of William P. and Olive Jane (SMITH) WEHRLY, and the younger brother of my Barbara Isabel WEHRLY.  Blaine was born August 31, 1884 in Salamonia, Jay County, Indiana.  Ermina was born March 5, 1889 in Wabash Township, Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of William Stevenson and Blanche Bertha (LEWIS) ASHCRAFT. In 1930 census they were living in Portland, Jay County, Indiana.  Need further research after 1930.

My paternal 5th-great grandaunt, Magdalena ERB, married on this date in 1780 to David BRICKER.  Magdalena was the daughter of Jacob and Magdalena (SCHWARTZ) ERB, and the older sister of my Barbara ERB.  I do not know if she was born in Switzerland or in Pennsylvania.  Magdalena and David had at least 5 children, but nothing further is known.

My paternal 2nd-great granduncle, John Stevens LEMASTERS, married on this date in 1881 to Sarah I. WILSON in Jay County, Indiana.  John was the son of Luman Walker and Nancy (YOUNG) LEMASTERS, and the younger brother of my Luman Walker LEMASTERS Jr.  John was born April 22, 1855 in Jay County, Indiana.  Sarah was born September 1859 in Indiana.  They raised a family in St. Paul, Howard County, Nebraska.  I have nothing further on them past the 1920 census.

My maternal 3rd-great grandaunt, Mary S. LAMBERTSON, married on this date in 1863 to Samuel SNIVELY in Butler County, Ohio.  Mary was the daughter of John and Sarah A. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the older sister of my Carey W. LAMBERTSON.  Mary was born December 25, 1840 in Franklin County, Indiana. Samuel was born August 1842 in Ohio.  After their marriage they resided Butler County, Ohio and Madison County, Indiana.  Further research needs to be done to determine their dates of death.

My maternal 7th-great grandfather, Samuel HEATON, was born on this date in 1681 in Wrentham, Massachusetts.  Samuel was the son of Nathaniel HEATON.  He married December 10, 1706 in Wrentham, Massachusetts to Susan HAWES.  They had at least 9 children.  Samuel died between 1735 and 1737.

My maternal 4th-great grandaunt, Charlotte SWAFFORD, married on this date in 1845 to William WILLIAMS in Monroe County, Indiana. Charlotte was born circa 1827 in Tennessee, the daugther of Larkin and Nancy (________) SWAFFORD, and the older sister to my Peter Kirkpatrick SWAFFORD. William was born circa 1824 in Kentucky. They lived in Bean Blossom Township, Monroe County, Indiana, at least through 1870 census and had at least 4 children. Need to follow up on where they both died and are buried.

My maternal 3rd-great grandmother, Clara E. COOK, was born on this date in 1848 in Ohio, probably Butler County. Her death certificate lists her as the daughter of William and ________ (HIRHARGER) COOK. She married Carey W. LAMBERTSON on October 1, 1869 in Butler County, Ohio. Carey was born April 29, 1847 in Butler County, Ohio, the son of John and Sarah A. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON. Clara and Carey lived in Butler County, Ohio, Hamilton County, Indiana and Madison County, Indiana. Clara died January 23, 1943 in Atlanta, Hamilton County, Indiana and is buried in the Elwood City Cemetery, Elwood, Madison County, Indiana.

My maternal 2nd-great grandaunt, Martha PIERCE, was born on this date in 1868 in Richland Township, Madison County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Edmund G. and Catherine (GROENENDYKE) PIERCE, and the younger sister of my William Francis PIERCE. The Pierce Genealogy lists her birthdate as November 6th. Martha married John M. JOHNSON on August 4, 1869 in Madison County, Indiana. Martha died February 29, 1932 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana.

My paternal 6th-great granduncle, Abner PHILBRICK, married Mehitable STEWART on this date in 1731. Abner was the son of Thomas and Abigail (________) PHILBRICK, and the older brother of my John PHILBRICK. Abner was born January 21, 1708 in Hampton, Province of New Hampshire and died May 2, 1790. Mehitable was born in 1716 and died in 1770. I do not know who her parents were.

My maternal 3rd-great grandaunt, Ellen W. LAMBERTSON, married David L. MENGLE on this date in 1870 in Butler County, Ohio. Ellen was the daughter of John and Sarah A. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON, and the younger sister of my Carey W. LAMBERTSON. Ellen was born June 21, 1850 in Ohio and died September 16, 1933 in Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. David was born circa 1851 in Ohio, the son of George and Susan (RUMBARGER) MENGLE, and died July 4, 1938 in Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. Both are buried in the Holp Cemetery, Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.

My maternal 6th-great grandfather, Pieter ANTONIDES, married Catherine VANDERVEER on this date in 1750. Pieter was the son of Johannis and Annetje (COUWENHOVEN) ANTONIDES. Pieter was born July 31, 1727 and died April 27, 1796 in Flatbush, Long Island. Catherine was the daughter of Michael and Belitja (SNYDAM) VANDERVEER. She was born August 11, 1732 and died May 8, 1796. My connection to these ANTONIDES needs further research, but for the moment I'm claiming them, through their daughter Joannah.

My maternal 7th-great grandfather, Seth PIERCE, married Elizabeth NYE on this date in 1743. Seth was the son of Samuel and Abigail (JOHNSON) PIERCE. Seth was born November 30, 1716 in Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts and died December 5, 1794. Elizabeth was the daughter of Ebenezer and Sarah (NEWCOMB) NYE. Elizabeth was born December 14, 1720 and died May 14, 1749 in Mansfield, Windham County, Connecticut. I descend through their son, Seth.

My maternal 5th-great grandaunt, Elizabeth JACOBS, was born on this date in 1810 in Brown County, Ohio. Elizabeth was the daughter of William and Sibell (LITTELL) JACOBS and the younger sister of my James Thomas JACOBS. Elizabeth married John T. REEVES on October 1, 1829. Elizabeth died July 4, 1888 in Wabash County, Indiana.

My paternal 4th-great grandfather, Rev. Nathaniel CHEW, was born on this date in 1786 in Gloucester County, New Jersey. Nathaniel was the son of Nathaniel and Sarah (SPRINGER) CHEW. Nathaniel married Mary WEST, daughter of Job and Sarah (JACKSON) WEST, circa 1812 in Gloucester County, New Jersey. Mary died February 27, 1848 in New Jersey. Nathaniel lived in Darke County, Ohio and Iowa. Nathaniel died January 24, 1866 in Mahaska County, Iowa.

Samuel Snively household - Butler Co., OH & Madison Co., IN

The Samuel SNIVELY household appears in the 1870 census of Butler Co., OH and the 1900-1910 census of Madison Co., IN. Samuel was my maternal 3rd-great granduncle, the husband of Mary S. LAMBERTSON.

In the 1870 census of Wayne Twp., Butler Co., OH, Samuel is a 27 year old Farmer, born in Ohio, with a personal estate valued at $1500. Wife Mary was 28 years old, keeping house, born in Indiana. Their son Henry, aged 5, was born in Illinois, and daughter Maude, aged 2, was born in Ohio. Mary's sister, Ella LAMBERTSON, aged 19, was also living with them.

In the 1900 census of Duck Creek Twp., Madison Co., IN., Samuel was a 57 year old Farmer, born August 1842 Ohio, with both parents born in Pennsylvania. He owned his home free of mortgage, and had been married for 36 years. Wife Mary S. was aged 59 years, born December 1840 in Indiana, with both parents born in New Jersey. Their son, Darrell, aged 18, born April 1882 in Ohio, was still living at home.

In the 1910 census of Duck Creek Twp., Madison Co., IN., Samuel was a 67 year old Fruit merchant, born in Ohio, with both parents born in Pennsylvania. Wife Mary was 68 years old, the mother of 6 children; 5 of whom were still living. Son Darrell was a 27 year old horseman, living with them as well.

David L. Mengle household - Montgomery Co., OH

The David L. MENGLE (or MENGEL) household appears in the 1910 and 1920 census of Jackson Twp., Montgomery Co., OH. David was married to my maternal 3rd-great grandaunt, Ellen W. LAMBERTSON.

David appears in the 1910 census as a 59 year old farmer, born Ohio, with both parents born in Ohio. Ella is listed as aged 58, married for 40 years, with 4 children, only two of whom are still living. Son Lionel and his wife Edith are also living in the home with David and Ella. Right now I do not know the names of any other children.

In the 1920 census, David is listed as a 70 year old farmer, and Ella is listed as aged 69. Son Lionel and wife Edith are living next door in this census.
