My maternal 4th-great grandaunt, Almina PIERCE, married on this date in 1818 to John COY. Almina was the daughter of Gordon and Thirsa (SMALLEY) PIERCE, and the older sister of my Francis S. PIERCE. Almina was born in 1798. John was born September 6, 1799, of unknown parentage. They had a family of 12 children. Nothing further is known at this time.

Wordless Wednesday: Married 63 Years
My maternal 4th-great grandparents, John T. BEALS and Mary DAVIS, were married April 19, 1848 in Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana. John was the son of Nathan C. and Elizabeth (CHEW) BEALS. Mary was the daughter of John W. and Mary (BARKER) DAVIS. This undated news clipping was given to me by a fellow researcher.

My paternal 2nd-great granduncle, William F. METZNER, was born on this date in 1844 in Licking County, Ohio. William was the son of John and Catherine (YOUNG) METZNER, and the younger brother of my John Adam METZNER. William married December 8, 1867 in Jay County, Indiana to Mary Ann HALEY. Mary was born in 1846, the daughter of Sebastian and Lydia A. (RADER) HALEY. William served in Co. E, 89th Indiana Infantry in the Civil War. He was a farmer and furniture dealer in Bearcreek Township, Jay County, Indiana. They had 8 children. Mary died in 1926. William died in 1929. Both are buried in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Jay County, Indiana.
