Aunt Vera's Diary - March 30th

In the summer of 2019, I was able to photograph the entries in the diary of my maternal great-aunt, Vera (Haley) Stuber.  The entries cover the years from 1968-1971 time frame and provide an interesting view of her daily activities. Items in brackets are my notes for further research.

1968 - March 30th - Saturday

Another spring like day.  I baked cake, coffee cake, apple crispt and made potato salad.  Stewed the rest of the apples.

1970 - March 30th - Sunday

Sunshiney but cold.  Attended church morn & eve.  Called on Rose before church in evening.

1971 - March 30th - Monday

Cold this morn but been a real nice day.  I washed.  Clarence went for coal.  Hittle here this P.M. baled up loose straw.

1971 - March 30th - Tuesday

A nice day.  Aired bed clothes and made noodles for church.  Young peopls choir coming to our church Sun. A.M.

Vera Delphene (Haley) Stuber was born 10 March 1890 in Jay County, Indiana, daughter of Eli Weldon & Cora Belle (Metzner) Haley.  She married 14 February 1915 in Jay County, Indiana to Clarence Leroy Stuber.  Vera died 17 June 1987 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana. Clarence was born 4 February 1891 in Jay County, Indiana, son of Henry and Margaret (Metzger) Stuber.  Clarence died 20 May 1981 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana.  They had no surviving children.

Aunt Vera's Diary - March 29th

1968 - March 29th - Friday

We were to Portland this A.M.  Clarence took clothes in for Ruth Matchett and got his hair cut.  I washed my hair.

1969 - March 29th - Saturday

We were to Portland in A.M. got new hat $4.98.  Baked cherry pies etc. in P.M.

1970 - March 29th - Sunday

"Easter" had 367 at S.S.  Singing & testimonies in evening.  Carrie & Waymon here in P.M.

1971 - March 29th - Monday

Did a big wash also ironed.  Rather cold and windy today also mostly cloudy.

Aunt Vera's Diary - March 28th

1968 - March 28th - Thursday

Another nice day.  Aired bed clothes.  Did weakly cleaning downstairs.

1969 - March 28th - Friday

Clarence went to sale at Loys.  I cleaned up the house.

1970 - March 28th - Saturday

Did usual Saturdays work.  Baked cherry & peach pies.  Deviled eggs.  Our phone out for 3rd day.

1971 - March 28th - Sunday

Attended church morn & eve.  Ballmer son in law preached in Rev. Ballmers absence.  Rev. & Mrs. in Florida.  Called on Rose in P.M.  A real nice day.
