Easter Greetings (1923)

Postmark: Portland, Indiana August 27, 1923

Dear Children

Had quite a rain this morning girls are washing.  Will look for you folks Thurs.  Well Mildred says she is going home with Vera from the fair so Grandma can't say no.  She says she wants to play with the pups.  Will you bring that dish that you cook or bake in.  We will bake macroni [sic].

This postcard, sent to my paternal great-aunt Vera (HALEY) STUBER, was written by her mother, Cora Belle (METZNER) HALEY.  Why an Easter card was postmarked in August, I have no idea.

The fair mentioned would be the Jay County fair.  Mildred would be Mildred MILLER, daughter of Galen and Mary (HALEY) MILLER, Vera's sister.

An interesting view into the lives of my ancestors in 1923.
