Phebe Ann Beals (1831- ), Randolph County, Indiana

Phebe Ann Beals (1831-    ) was the daughter of Daniel and Catherine (Jackson) Beals.  Her marriage on August 14, 1852 in Randolph County, Indiana to Jesse F. Baldwin was found in the database.  Prior to this find, I didn't have the exact location of their marriage.

Phebe was my maternal fourth cousin six times removed.  Our common ancestors were John Beals and Mary Clayton.  Nothing further is known about her family at this point.

Pearl May Beals (1878-1970), Hamilton County, Indiana

Pearl May Beals (1878-1970) was the daughter of Nathan Thomas and Elizabeth Caroline (Poe) Beals.  Her marriage on April 18, 1897 in Hamilton County, Indiana to Charles W. Lambertson was found in the database.  Though indexed with a middle initial of "M", it actually is "W" for Wilson.  Though I already had this fact in my database, I didn't actually have a copy of the record.

Amer Jackson Beals (1818-1862), Randolph County, Indiana

Amer Jackson Beals (1818-1862) was the son of Daniel and Catherine (Jackson) Beals.  His marriage on October 16, 1842 in Randolph County, Indiana to Harriett Higginbotham was found in the database.  Harriett's surname is spelled both Higginbotham and Hickingbothum in the same document.  Prior to this find, I had the date of their wedding incorrectly as October 12th.

Amer's second marriage, also in Randolph County, Indiana, was on August 11, 1857 to Matilda H. Nolin.  Prior to finding this in the database, I did not have the date or location of their marriage.  I also had her name as Matilda Nolan Quick.  That could be a surname from a previous marriage, but the record clearly shows her surname as Nolin.

Amer was my maternal fourth cousin six times removed.  Our common ancestors were John Beals and Mary Clayton.  Amer died April 16, 1862 in Nashville, Tennessee.  Not sure at this point if he was a Civil War casualty.

Aaron Bales (1790-1847), Henry County, Indiana

Aaron Bales (1790-1847) was the son of William and Rachel (Green) Beals.  His marriage on December 18, 1834 in Henry County, Indiana was found in the database.  Prior to this find, I only knew the year and location of their marriage.  It was the second marriage for Aaron.

Homer Herschel Beals (b. 1874) was the son of Thomas Elwood Beals and Eliza Matilda Hodgin.  I found the record of his first marriage to Mable Clare Lindley in Hamilton County, Indiana while searching the "Indiana Marriages, 1811-1959" database at FamilySearch.org.  Prior to searching this database, I didn't have Mabel's maiden name.

Not sure on the correct spelling of Homer's middle name, I have from the Beals genealogy as 'Herschel', but these databases have it as 'Herchel'.  Will need to obtain a copy of the original records from Hamilton County and examine.

Homer would be my maternal third cousin four times removed.  Our common ancestors are John and Mary (Carter) Beals.  Have yet to obtain his death information or add any census information to my database.

1856 -  Elizabeth SILLS died in Jackson Township, Champaign County, Ohio.  Elizabeth was the daughter of Michael SILLS and Rosanna FETTERS.

1874 - Foster MAXSON born in Muscatine County, Iowa.  Foster was the son of Willard MAXSON and Phebe R. HUTCHINSON.

1883 - Henry MIGUET married Katherine JARRETT in Buchanan County, Iowa.  Henry was the son of Claud Francis MIGUET and Eliza NETCOTT.  Katherine was the daughter of Judson JARRETT and Jane WOODS.  They were Corinne's 3x-great grandfather.

1885 - Jesse BEALS died in Hamilton County, Indiana.  Jesse was the son of John BEALS and Mary JOHNSON.

1892 - Bert Vernon SIGLER died in Elwood, Madison County, Indiana.  Bert was the son of Daniel SIGLER and Minerva PIERCE.

1900 - Edward E. PIERCE died in Monroe Township, Madison County, Indiana.  Edward was the son of William Francis PIERCE and Clara A. PENISTEN.

1906 - James Carney SWAFFORD married Ettie FISHER in Ray County, Missouri.  James was the son of James J. SWAFFORD and Elizabeth Ann Gant HANKINS.

1910 - Lottie COVEY married William H. CLEVENGER in Ray County, Missouri.  Lottie was the daughter of Andrew Woolsey COVEY and Rebecca A. SWAFFORD.

1916 - Landon DAVIS died.  Landon was the son of Stillman Coon DAVIS and Keziah DAVIS.

1929 - Julia C. PRIEB died in Olathe, Kansas.  Julia was the daughter of Daniel COFFELT and Rebecca A. SWAFFORD.

1970 - Bessie Elizabeth McOWEN died in Lima, Allen County, Ohio.  Bessie was the daughter of John McLANE and Emma Isabelle DINSMORE.

Surname Saturday : Davis

The DAVIS surname is in my maternal line.  No connection has yet been found to my other DAVIS lines.  This line was of the Quaker faith.  The origins of the surname are unknown at this time.

Beals (1827-1917).  John was born June 25, 1827 in Clinton County, Ohio.  He served in Company A, 101st Indiana Infantry during the Civil War.  They raised 6 children in Hamilton County, Indiana.  John died September 18, 1917 in Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana.  Mary died July 18, 1909 in Cicero, Hamilton County, Indiana.  Both are buried in the Summit Lawn Cemetery, Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana.

John died August 2, 1877 in Hamilton County, Indiana.  Both are buried in the Old Friends Cemetery, Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana.
