Additional branch of the Jacobs line

It's Christmas morning, I'm the only one awake, so of course I'm working on genealogy. Going through my old files, I found an email I had saved from the JACOBS-L list regarding William JACOBS and Sybil LITTEL that has given me more leads and avenues of further research.

Back in 2005, June Jordan had written to the list regarding sorting out the data regarding the various JACOBS families in Brown County, Ohio and what she had discovered regarding William. Turns out William was not of her line, but she did an excellent job in pointing future researchers in the right direction by retracing her steps and giving sources for where she found her information.

According to her research, my William was the son of Jacob and Hannah (JOHNSON) JACOBS of Monongalia County, Virginia. Doing a quick Google search on Jacob, looks like there is quite a bit of information out there on him in the early records of Monongalia County - where he may have crossed paths with my Lemaster relatives - looks like I have some letters to write, etc.

William had at least two sisters, Rebecca who married Samuel Frazee, and Hannah who married a ________ Harbert. Samuel Frazee was a Revolutionary War veteran, as was Jacob Jacobs.

The email also gave information regarding Sybil Littel's sister, Rhoda Rilea, who was the widow of Revolutionary War veteran, Richard Rilea. Richard died 1839 in Brown County, Ohio.

Senator Phillips household - Murray Co., OK

The Senator PHILLIPS household was enumerated in the 1910 census of Murray Co., OK in the 2nd Ward of Sulphur City. Senator PHILLIPS was my paternal great-granduncle, husband of Una Maude LEMASTERS.

Senator was a veterinary surgeon in the 1910 census, aged 26, who had been married for 2 years. He was born in Kansas and both parents were born in Ohio. His wife, Maud, was aged 25, born in Indiana, with her father born in Mississippi and her mother born in Missouri. This is an error, as her father was born in Ohio and her mother was born in New Jersey. Perhaps the census taker was describing the parents of Senator Phillips. However, his mother, Jennie M., was living with them, aged 50 years old, listed as being born in Ohio.

The family's young son, Donald K., aged 1, born in Oklahoma, was also living with them.

Nelson J. Lambertson - Butler Co., OH

Nelson J. LAMBERTSON appears in the 1900-1920 census in Hamilton, Butler Co., OH. Nelson is my maternal 3rd great granduncle, the son of John and Sarah A. (WILLSON) LAMBERTSON.

Nelson appears as the head of household in the 1900 census, aged 31 years. His occupation was that of a wagon maker with a real estate value of $500. Also appearing with Nelson was his widowed daughter, Mary LOY, and her son Lewis. Lewis was shown as being born June 1891 in Ohio.

Nelson appears in the 1910 and 1920 census in the household of daughter Mary and her new husband David CREWS. In the 1920 census, David's surname is spelled CRUSS. David was born ca. 1871 in Indiana his occupation was that of an electrician.

The 1920 census shows son Lora CRUSS, aged 28, born Ohio who is an electrician. I believe that this may be Mary's son, Lewis, from her first marriage. It is possible that the census enumerator assigned him to the wrong surname. More investigation will have to be done.

Nelson J. LAMBERTSON was born April 4, 1838 Stillwell Corner, Butler Co., OH, d. October 3, 1929 Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH and was buried in the Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke Co., OH. Nelson married June 26, 1858 Riley Twp., Butler Co., OH to Eliza Jane JOHNSON, b. December 1837 Ohio and died July 6, 1899. Nelson was a Civil War veteran of Co. I, 167th Regt., OH National Guard.
