Susan (Jacobs) Sherrick (1825-1864) was my paternal 3rd-great grandmother. What follows is an exploratory analysis of the biographical data I have discovered about her.
1. Vital Records
Susan was born August 18, 1825 in either Wayne County, Ohio1, or Pennsylvania2, depending on the source. More likely her birthplace was Warrington Township, York County, Pennsylvania.
1.1. Birth Certificate
I have not yet located a birth record for Susan. Will continue to search sources such as FamilySearch in hopes of locating.
1.1.1. Birth Notice in Newspaper
If Susan's birth was mentioned in a newspaper, I'm not aware of it. Once I've determined the exact location, will be able to continue my search to see if it was mentioned.
1.1.2. Bible Record
I am not aware of any surviving Bible records of the Jacobs family that mentions Susan. Will continue to reach out to extended family in hopes that one can be located.
1.1.3. Baptismal Record
I am not aware of any baptismal record for Susan, nor am I aware of the church affiliation of the family at this time.
1.1.4. Adoption Record
There is no indication that Susan was adopted.
1.2. Marriage License
Susan married David Sherrick on March 23, 1843 in Wayne County, Ohio3. David's surname was spelled Sherich in the record, as the surname has evolved through several records.

I've not yet searched available newspapers of the time period to see if mention was made of Susan and David's nuptials. Will add this to my list of "to-do" items for my next research trip.
1.2.2. Anniversary Notice
I've not yet searched available newspapers of the time period to see if mention was made of any anniversary celebrations. Susan would have passed away before their 25th wedding anniversary.
1.2.3. Divorce Decree
Although there is no indication that they were ever divorced, a complete search of local court records would need to be made to be sure.
1.3. Death Certificate
Susan died February 24, 1864 in Ashland County, Ohio1. Her tombstone cites the death date as February 23rd.

I have not yet located an obituary mention for Susan. Will need to continue to search in available newspapers to see if mention was made.
1.3.2. Funeral Home Records
I will need to search the local historical society records to see if they have any mention of a funeral home that might have handled Susan's arrangements.

Susan's tombstone in the Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Ohio has been photographed4. Her name on the tombstone is Susanna, and the date of death is listed as February 23rd. She shares a marker with David's second wife, Amy, as well.

On August 2, 1860, Susan was enumerated in the David Sharack hosuehold in Vermillion Township, Ashland County, Ohio5, as Susannah Sharack, age 30, female, born in Pennsylvania.

On September 19, 1850, Susan was enumerated in the David Scherick household in Vermillion Township, Ashland County, Ohio2, as Susan Scherick, age 23, female, born in Pennsylvania.

No state census records for the State of Ohio are known to exist.

I've not yet examined these types of records to see what light they might shed on the Sherrick family.

Beryl Miller household, 1940, Jay County, Indiana
Located the 1940 census record of the Beryl Miller household in Jay County, Indiana. Beryl's wife, Inez, was my paternal 5th cousin once removed. Our common ancestor was Steffan Petry. Inez was the daughter of William Stevenson Ashcraft and Blanche Bertha Lewis.
At the time of the enumeration, Beryl and his wife were living in Bearcreek Township. Beryl owned his home and the value was listed at $1200. Beryl was 44 years old and born in Indiana. His wife, Inez, was 41 years old and also born in Indiana. In 1935, they were living in the same place.
The record shows that Beryl had completed 1 year of college and that Inez had completed 2 years of college. Beryl's occupation was listed as a farmer, and no occupation was listed for Inez.
Also listed in the household were son Jimmie, age 13, born in Indiana and had competed the 7th grade, and Nancy, age 8, born in Indiana and had completed the 2nd grade.
According to my database, Beryl & Inez had two additional children not with them in 1940 - Marilyn and Betty.

Exploratory Data Analysis : John Metzner (1805-1888)
John Metzner (1805-1888) was my paternal 3rd-great grandfather. What follows is an exploratory analysis of the biographical data I have discovered about him.

John was born October 2, 1805 in Saxony1, or October 21, according to one source2. His obituary cites the October 21st date, while tombstone calculation of his birth date would support the October 2nd date.

I have not yet located a birth record for John. Will continue to search sources such as FamilySearch in hopes of locating.

John married Catharine Young on November 16, 1839 in Newark, Licking County, Ohio3. John's obituary mentioned the date as November 4, 1839.

John's obituary appeared in the January 24, 1888 edition of the Evangelical Messenger2. His obituary stated that he came to America in 1837 and lived in Licking County, Ohio until 1850 when he moved to Jay County, Indiana.

I will need to search local historical society records to see if they have any mention of the funeral home that handled John's arrangements.

On June 15, 1870, John was enumerated as head of household in Noble Township, Jay County, Indiana7, as John Metzner, age 62, Farmer, born in Saxony. The value of his real estate was $3000 and his personal estate valued at $600. He was a U.S. citizen, both of his parents were listed as foreign born.
2.1.3. 1860 Federal Census
On June 22, 1860, John was enumerated as head of household in Noble Township, Jay County, Indiana8, as John Metzner, age 53, Farmer, born in Saxony. The value of his real estate was $1500 and the value of his personal estate was $400.
2.1.4. 1850 Federal Census
On September 21, 1850, John was enumerated as head of household in Noble Township, Jay County, Indiana9, as John Metzner, age 42, Farming, born in Germany. The value of his real estate was $300.
2.2. State Census Records
The State of Indiana conducted census in 1853, 1857, 1871, 1877, 1883, 1889, 1901, 1913, 1919 and 1931. These, however, were merely for the purposes of legislative apportionment.
No state census records of Ohio are known to exist.
