Aunt Vera's Diary - March 2nd

In the summer of 2019, I was able to photograph the entries in the diary of my maternal great-aunt, Vera (Haley) Stuber.  The entries cover the years from 1968-1971 time frame and provide an interesting view of her daily activities. Items in brackets are my notes for further research.

1968 - March 2nd - Saturday

Baked plum pies and did usual Saturday work.

1969 - March 2nd - Monday

Dora and we called at Huntsmans in P.M.

1970 - March 2nd - Monday

Washed today, foggy all day and eve.  Bro. Granger came and got us.  Missionary at our church.

1917 - March 2nd - Tuesday

Attended womens prayer meeting this A.M.  at Audry Schlambs. Ironed this P.M.  Another sunshiney day.  Attended Equity meeting in the eveing.

Vera Delphene (Haley) Stuber was born 10 March 1890 in Jay County, Indiana, daughter of Eli Weldon & Cora Belle (Metzner) Haley.  She married 14 February 1915 in Jay County, Indiana to Clarence Leroy Stuber.  Vera died 17 June 1987 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana. Clarence was born 4 February 1891 in Jay County, Indiana, son of Henry and Margaret (Metzger) Stuber.  Clarence died 20 May 1981 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana.  They had no surviving children.

Aunt Vera's Diary - March 1st

1968 - March 1st - Friday

Defrosted refrigerator, tended house plants.  Made jelly from canned grape juice.  Attended day of prayer at our church in the eveing.

1969 - March 1st - Sunday

Dora Franklin came home with us from church.

1970 - March 1st - Sunday

Attended church morn & eve.  Last night of Youth revival.

1971 - March 1st - Monday

Went to Nells for permanent in forenoon.  Washed in P.M.  March came in like a lamb. Sunshiney day.

Light snow showers all day.  Did usual work, embroidered some on pillow.

1969 - February 29th - Saturday  [1969 was not a leap year]

Did Saturdays work.  Made salad etc.
