1699: Mary HIGGINS born in Hopewell, New Jersey.  Mary was the daughter of Jedediah HIGGINS and Mary NEWBOLD.


1704: Samuel HAINES born in Northampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Samuel was the son of William HAINES and Sarah PAINE.


1741: Anna MAXSON born.  Anna was the daughter of John MAXSON and Tacy ROGERS.


1749: Elinor MAXSON born.  Elinor was the daughter of John MAXSON and Thankfull RANDALL.


1811: John WRIGHT married Ann MORROW in Adams County, Ohio.  John was the son of John WRIGHT and Sarah FLEMING.


1814: Eliza Ann H. DEACON born in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Eliza was the daughter of Joseph DEACON and Beulah HAINES.


1821: Hannah DAVIS born.  Hannah was the daughter of Nathan J. DAVIS and Keziah DAVIS.


1832: Betsey Jane COOK born.  Betsey was the daughter of James S. COOK and Eunice HUNT.


1832: Rachel ROSS born.  Rachel was the daughter of John ROSS and Pheobe HEATON.


1840: Clarissa A. WELCH born. Clarissa was the daughter of Lucas WELCH and Alma PIERCE.


1842: Rebecca A. SWAFFORD born in Tennessee.  Rebecca was the daughter of John Calvin SWAFFORD and Mary Ellen SHIRLEY.


1852: Houston CUMMINGS born in Alabama.  Houston was the son of Abner CUMMINGS and Mary WRIGHT.


1864: Hugh WARDLAW died in Brown County, Ohio.  Hugh was the son of Robert WARDLAW and Janet DOWNEY.


1865: Beulah PUCKETT died.  Beulah was the daughter of Levi COFFIN and Prudence WILLIAMS.


1866: Rev. Nathaniel CHEW died in Mahaska County, Iowa.  Nathaniel was the son of Nathaniel CHEW and Sarah SPRINGER.  He was my 4x great-grandfather.


1881: Charles Washington KING born in Marion County, Indiana.  Charles was the son of Eli KING and Laura Belle BLACK.


1891: Elias P. SNYDER died in Delaware County, Indiana.  Elias was the son of Edwin Clark Anthony SNYDER and Amanda GROENENDYKE.


1896: Joseph CHEW died in Ross County, Ohio.  Joseph was the son of Joseph CHEW and Elizabeth THOMAS.


1929: William Wesley WRIGHT died in Brown County, Ohio.  William was the son of Samuel Pangburn WRIGHT and Rebecca Ruth HALL.


1954: John William WEHRLY died in Salamonia, Jay County, Indiana.  John was the son of William P. WEHRLY and Olive Jane SMITH.

Family Milestones: September 24th

My paternal 4th-great grandaunt, Beulah Haines WOOLSTON, married on this date in 1829 in Burlington County, New Jersey to Daniel DEACON, son of Daniel and Margaret (RIDGWAY) DEACON.  Beulah was the daughter of Samuel and Hannah (HAINES) WOOLSTON, and the younger sister of my Rachel WOOLSTON. Beulah was born December 24, 1810 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Daniel was born May 20, 1808 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  They had 5 children.  Daniel died June 13, 1866 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Beulah's death date is unknown.


My maternal 2nd-great grandaunt, Jessie PENISTEN, married on this date in 1920 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana to Lawrence SPENCE, son of Thomas and Suzan (BERRY) SPENCE.  Jessie was the daughter of John and Jane (ALDERMAN) PENISTEN, and the younger sister of my Clara PENISTEN.  Lawrence was born January 18, 1863 in Madison County, Indiana.  Jessie was born September 9, 1870 in Madison County, Indiana.  Lawrence was an Army veteran of the Spanish-American War and the Phillipine Insurrection.  Lawrence died March 29, 1961 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.  Jessie died February 27, 1948 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.  Both are buried at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.


My paternal great-grandaunt, Edith Mabel LeMASTERS, was born on this date in 1879 in Jay County, Indiana.  Edith was the daughter of Luman Walker and Mary Keziah (CHEW) LeMASTERS, and the younger sister of my Luman Cooper LeMASTERS.  Edith married April 20, 1910 in Jay County, Indiana to Henry MEINHOLTZ.  Henry was born July 9, 1875.  They had 4 children.  Henry died January 20, 1948.  Edith died July 29, 1949.  Both are buried in Colorado Springs, Colorado.


My paternal 3rd-great granduncle, John LEMASTERS, was born on this date in 1804 in Mason County, Virginia.  John was the son of Jacob and Hannah (________) LEMASTERS, and the older brother of my Luman Walker LEMASTERS.  John married December 14, 1828 in Washington County, Pennsylvania to Mary H. BAKER.  Mary was born July 30, 1808 in Pennsylvania. They had 10 children and resided in Ohio and Pulaski County, Indiana.  Mary died in Wayne County, Ohio.  John died March 25, 1866 in Starr City, Pulaski County, Indiana.


My paternal 6th-great granduncle, Joseph DAVIS, was born on this date in 1726.  Joseph was the son of John and Elizabeth (MAXSON) DAVIS, and the younger brother of my Thomas William DAVIS.  Joseph married in 1745 in Stonington, Connecticut to Comfort LANGWORTHY.  He married secondly to Dorcas ________.  Comfort's parentage and dates of birth and death are unknown.  Dorcas was born circa 1726.  Joseph and Comfort had 10 children; Joseph and Dorcas had 4 children.  Joseph died in 1798.  Nothing further is known at this time.

Family Milestones: June 8th

My maternal 5th-great grandfather, James ALDERMAN, married on this date in 1795 in Augusta County, Virginia to Catherine WARNER, daughter of Henry and Mary (NAGLE) WARNER.  James was the son of Richard ALDERMAN.  James was born before 1775 in Virginia.  Catherine was born in January 1777.  They had 3 children.  They later divorced and both remarried.  Catherine died September 17, 1859 in Madison County, Indiana.  James died between 1850 and 1854 in Greenville, Bond County, Illinois.

My maternal 4th-great grandfather, Francis S. PIERCE, was born on this date in 1806 in Vermont.  Francis was the son of Gordon and Thirsa (SMALLEY) PIERCE.  Francis married October 25, 1831 in Wayne County, Indiana to Rebecca PAGE.  Rebecca was born August 18, 1806 in New Jersey.  They had 13 children.  Rebecca died June 26, 1893 in Wayne County, Indiana.  Francis died August 5, 1881 in Wayne County, Indiana.

My paternal 3rd-great grandaunt, Rebecca Ann Haines WOOLSTON, was born on this date in 1823 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Rebecca was the daughter of Abel B. and Rachel (WOOLSTON) WOOLSTON, and the younger sister of my Caroline Bishop WOOLSTON.  Rebecca married Joseph DEACON, son of Joseph and Beulah (HAINES) DEACON.  Joseph was born August 7, 1817 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  They had 3 children.  Joseph died October 10, 1877 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Rebecca died August 3, 1900 in Westhampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey.

My paternal 5th-great grandaunt, Beulah HAINES, married on this date in 1813 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Beulah was the daughter of Robert and Rachel (VENICOMB) HAINES, and the younger sister of my Hannah Haines.  Joseph was the son of William and Elizabeth (ROGERS) DEACON.  Hannah was born May 10, 1787 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Joseph was born June 1, 1774.  They were the parents of 10 children.  Joseph died November 17, 1855 near Mt. Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Beulah died January 5, 1832 in Burlington County, New Jersey.

My paternal 4th great-grandfather, Joel PHILBRICK, was born on this date in 1781.  Joel was the son of Deacon John and Sally (JEWETT) PHILBRICK.  Joel married in 1808 to Sally FOX.  Sally was the daughter of John and Sarah (WORCESTER) FOX.  Sally was born August 27, 1788 in Centre Harbor, New Hampshire.  They had 10 children and moved to Licking County, Ohio. Sally died 1868 in Johnstown, Licking County, Ohio.  Joel died March 1, 1846 in Licking County, Ohio. 


My paternal 5th great-grandmother, Sarah SPRINGER, was born on this date in 1762 in Wilmington, Delaware.  Sarah parentage is unknown at this time.  Sarah married circa 1784 in New Jersey to Nathaniel CHEW, son of Rev. Jesse and Mary (RICHARDS) CHEW.  Nathaniel was born in 1765 in Gloucester County, New Jersey.  They had 8 children.  Nathaniel died July 16, 1841 in Gloucester County, New Jersey.  Sarah died in 1845.

Family Milestones; December 24th

My maternal great-granduncle, John Herman PIERCE, married on this date in 1918 in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana to Charlotte Elva HENSLEY.  John was the son of William Francis and Clara (PENNISTEN) PIERCE, and the older brother of my Edna Muriel PIERCE.  John was born July 1895 in Madison County, Indiana.  Charlotte was born in 1901.  John died in 1959 and is buried in the Park View Cemetery, Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana.

My paternal 4th-great grandaunt, Beulah Haines WOOLSTON, was born on this date in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Beulah was the daughter of Samuel and Hannah (HAINES) WOOLSTON, and younger sister of my Rachel WOOLSTON.  Beulah married September 24, 1829 in Burlington County, New Jersey to Daniel DEACON, son of Daniel and Margaret (RIDGWAY) DEACON.  Daniel was born May 20, 1808 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  They raised 5 children.  Daniel died June 13, 1866 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  I do not have a death date for Beulah.

Hannah was born January 21, 1768 in Burlington Co., NJ, the daughter of Robert and Rachel (Venicomb) Haines. Hannah married on February 26, 1795 in Burlington Co., NJ to Samuel Woolston, son of Samuel and Cyllania (Woolston) Woolston. Samuel was born August 22, 1768 in Burlington Co., NJ and died November 3, 1813 in Burlington Co., NJ. Hannah died February 7, 1813 in Burlington Co., NJ.

Today's featured relative in my database is my maternal 6th-great grandfather, Robert Haines.

Robert was born December 17, 1741 in Burlington Co., NJ, the son of Jeremiah and Hannah (Bonnell) Haines. Robert married on May 17, 1766 in Burlington Co., NJ to Rachel Venicomb, daughter of Francis and Rachel (Lippincott) Venicomb. Rachel was born ca. 1742 and died March 30, 1817 in Burlington Co., NJ. Robert died June 21, 1821 in Burlington Co., NJ.

They were members of the Society of Friends (Quakers) in the Mount Holly Monthly Meeting. Robert was known as "Rich Bobby", and was reported to the monthly meeting on 1st mo. 5 dy. 1780 for paying a fine in lieu of personal services to carry on the war, and for this action he was disowned on 6th mo. 9 dy. 1780.

Some of the above dates were improperly recorded/converted from the Quaker dating system.
