This record of the marriage of Russell James Hercules and Bertha Alberta LeMaster was located at the Jay County Historical Society in Portland, Indiana.

Bertha was my paternal grand aunt, the daughter of Luman Cooper LeMaster and Barbara Isabel Wehrly.  I could not make out the full place of Russell's employer at first, but checking out his WWI Draft record, I knew he was a wood worker with the Starr Piano Company. I knew that he was from Richmond, and they lived there after their marriage.  Now with this record, I also have his parent's names.

This record of the marriage of Franklin Oliver Bittikofer and Ora Amanda Haley was located at the Jay County Historical Society in Portland, Indiana.

Ora was my paternal great-grandaunt, the daughter of George Washington Haley and Mary Jane Sherick.  The return listed her birthplace as Fort Recovery, Ohio, while I had shown it as Jay County, Indiana in my database.  The Haley's were living in Seneca County, Ohio at the 1880 census, so they may have stopped in Fort Recovery before moving to Jay County.

The Frank Haley who witnessed the marriage was likely the bride's older brother.

This record of the marriage of William Broderick and Cynthia Haley was located at the Jay County Historical Society in Portland, Indiana.

I do not yet know how Cynthia fits into my Haley family in Jay County.  Obviously, she married into the family.  Initial searches on databases looking for a marriage of a Hern to Haley were unsuccessful.

I find it interesting that the license and return was taken out in Jay County, the groom lived in Adams County and the bride lived in Blackford County.

The name of the Clerk of the Jay Circuit court was terribly hard to read.  I was able to search Google and locate a record of John Alfred McDowell Adair in order to interpret his signature.
